Astakona or in KBBI means octagonal. Astakona itself is a universal symbol because it deals with balance, harmony and cosmic. Use the basic circle shape to get a 360 degree view from both inside and outside. The mass is divided into 3 based on priority needs of visitors in general. As well as creating a market that has a good impact on the health of the surrounding community by making it a park for jogging or doing other activities such as zumba.
By placing the art space as a link between the 2 buildings, it will create a crowd so that many visitors see the works on display, in art space it is a new spatial program in the market that the public has never received.
Make a market place as a garden with a jogging track area with the fragrance of jasmine flowers that can pamper the sense of smell. This market design also wants to attract students and students who rarely go to the market with open parks and working spaces. The application of the octagonal shape of the Islamic Center Mosque is used as a sweetener for this market with a combination of white and gray.
The facilities available are in the form of a working space, library, food court, hydroponic area, and artspace. Other additional facilities are a large bridge, a multi-functional outdoor area (garden) and a public corridor. The outdoor multifunctional area is used to fulfill the activities of the surrounding community, such as morning exercise, picnics, stepping screens, bazaars, children's playgrounds, jogging, and others.
Access
There are 4 accesses that have main doors in the south where the most vehicles pass and have the best circulation routes.
Massing
The Service Area consists of a car park and garbage truck access. The car park is located in the south and north, the garbage truck access is located on the southern edge.
The main function consists of a building containing booths (wet and dry) and kiosks. The main function is divided into 2 buildings so that visitors can go directly to the place without being crowded and also the aroma from the booth area does not interfere with the kiosk area. The mass of the main function building is also surrounded by supporting functions, in the form of facilities and other public activities.
Support functions consist of a lobby, working space, library, food court, hydroponic area, and artspace. Support functions are placed between public areas so that they are easily accessible and still crowded with visitors. Support functions are also placed close to the main function so that they can complement each other in terms of activity and the crowd is evenly distributed. The Public Area consists of a connecting bridge and a garden. This public area is an application of design to reinforce this concept.
Building Height
The height of the building ranges from 1 to 4 floors. The mass height of this building is almost the same as the height of the Islamic Center Mosque in the eastern part.
Symbolic Function
This Koja Market design uses an octagonal pattern like the Islamic Center Mosque. This will make the Koja market design friendly to this mosque. Where, the majority of the population of the region is also Muslim.
The octagonal symbol or called Astakona in KBBI, has a universal symbol because it relates to balance, harmony, and cosmic. This symbol also symbolizes the octagonal shaped throne of Brahma and Buddha, which since 2500 years ago was used as a symbol of Hinduism and Buddhism, is now also known as a symbol of Islam.
